McLean County PONY Baseball (MCPB) offers travel baseball at each age group beginning with 9U through High School.
Full-time travel teams at various age groups (9U+) are affiliated with MCPB.
Travel teams are not associated with the MCPB in-house program and operate independently:
- Players pay MCPB registration fees and are responsible for meeting (or buying out of) the fundraising and concession obligations
- Teams are given dates from April 1 - July 31 to host home games at the Shira Baseball Complex
- Teams are responsible for all costs associated with uniforms, training, tournaments, etc.
- Tryouts are coordinated across all age groups and held in late July early August each year.
Additional information can be found in the Travel Team Guidelines posted under Twins/Travel folder in the "Documents" section of this website.
Q: I can't make either of the tryout dates. What can I do?
A: You can reach out to the coaches of the travel teams for your chid's age group and ask them if they can see your child at another time. To email a coach, click on Teams -> choose a team -> travel -> appropriate age (ex. 8U) -> team name. This will bring you to the team's page. Click "contacts" on the left and then the "email" button under the coach's name. Remember next year's 10U coach is this year's 9U coach, so click the appropriate age.
Q: How much does it cost to be in travel baseball?
A: PONY's fees for 2020 are not set yet, but they are estimated to be $215. This gets your team's insurance, approximately 20 home games plus umpires, field prep, etc. Beyond that each team will need to raise or ask families to pay for things like Jerseys, tournament expenses, practice expenses, etc. That is team specific and will be determined by the coach.
