McLean County PONY Baseball (MCPB) offers its deepest sympathies to all who have been impacted by COVID-19. These are challenging times for everyone, but our 34-year history assures us our people, and the community we proudly serve will rebound. We are resilient and will all emerge stronger and more united than ever to serve our youth.
We want you to know that MCPB is currently working through all possible scenarios for 2020 regular season play. These scenarios will provide eligibility for our teams and leagues in all age groups.
We recognize the state of Illinois has implemented a 5-Phase plan for relaxing their strict measures taken to mitigate the coronavirus. The safety and well-being of everyone remains our top priority.
PRACTICES - June 1st
The PONY Complex is traditionally a non-practice facility during the summer. This enables us to allocate all available resources/field capacity to games and tournaments, maximizing the total number of games played in a season.
A proposal to open city ball diamonds under Phase 3 rules has been approved by the Town of Normal and City of Bloomington. This means PONY teams can safely begin practicing June 1st at nearby parks.
Due to Phase 3 social distancing limitations (groups of 10 or less), there will be no coaches meeting this year. Instead, coaches will be notified via email and granted access to their team roster information online, so they can begin contacting players/parents immediately and share additional information in advance of practices beginning.
OPENING DAY - End of June
Under Governor Pritzker’s 5-Phase plan, unless something changes, our region is currently required to be in Phase 4-Revitalization before our Complex can safely open. If the rate of infection continues to decline, we anticipate opening day will be at the end of June, and extending into early August, if needed.
As part of this opening, we will be operating under the guidance of IDPH (Illinois Department of Public Health). This includes a temporary set of PONY Complex rules and game rules, to ensure the safety of our athletes, umpires, coaches, volunteers and everyone in attendance.
Be safe, and we hope to see everyone at the PONY Complex soon!
The BEST place to play Youth Baseball in Bloomington/Normal since 1986!!
McLean County PONY Baseball (MCPB) is part of the national PONY (Protect Our Nation's Youth) organization and is staffed by volunteers. Continued success is dependent on volunteer support, so your help in any way is appreciated.
Over 1,200 players will play baseball at MCPB this year! Thanks to all the coaches, parents and volunteers that make this possible.
PONY baseball is divided into leagues, based on a player's age as of April 30:
